Cultural tour of Tzimol

Minimum 3 people

3 hours

By reservation only

Difficulty: Low

Tzimol is a quiet and peaceful town surrounded by beautiful sprawling sugar cane fields. Local industries include ‘panela‘ (unrefined cane sugar blocks), ‘petate‘ (weaved mats made from palm leaves) and ‘posh’, a strong alcoholic drink made of sugar cane. Come and observe these living traditions that have sustained local people for decades.

We will take a short break at ‘Ojo de Agua’, which is the source of the river that flows through Tzimol and eventually Las 3 Tzimoleras, under the cool shade of centuries-old, towering sabino (ahuehuete) trees. Along the way, we can also enjoy and take pictures with the interactive murals that capture everyday life of people in Tzimol.

Includes: guide, entrance to panela (raw cane sugar)  processing factory, palm mat weaving visit, ‘posh’ (alcohol made from fermented cane juice) sampling and  transportation in tuktuk.

We also offer a picnic breakfast to have by the river. Please book in advance.
